This Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler is a must-try summer dessert! Juicy peaches are baked beneath a tender, buttery topping with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. Topped with cinnamon sugar for a crisp finish, this cobbler is perfect served warm with vanilla ice cream. It’s an easy recipe that you’ll make again and again.

Ingredients
For the filling:

  • 9 cups sliced peaches (about 8 fresh peaches or 3 lbs)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the topping:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 12 tbsp chilled, grated butter
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

For cinnamon sugar topping:

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, mix peaches, lemon juice, 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and salt. Transfer to a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Bake the peach filling for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add grated butter and toss. Stir in boiling water until lumpy.
  3. Spoon topping over hot peach filling. Mix 1/3 cup sugar with 2 tsp cinnamon and sprinkle over topping.
  4. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Place the dish on a baking sheet to catch drips. Let cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
